Coronavirus has derailed festival plans across the world. Sports are starting to come back, but those can be played without fans in the stands. Livestreams fill the live music void but do not adequately replace the environment created by festivals. Currently, scheduled return dates for festivals are tentative with the hopes of things being back to semi-normal by 2021. Originally scheduled for October 9-11 Aftershock Festival, from Danny Wimmer Presents, has been rescheduled for October 7-10th in 2021. Discovery Park in Sacramento, California plays host to the rocking one-of-a-kind festival.
The reschedule comes amidst uncertainty surrounding the global pandemic that has put things on absolute hold. A fourth date has been added to the 2021 festival because of the cancellation of this year’s event. Jack Daniels will be sponsoring the additional night. This additional night will be a massive celebration for the return of California’s biggest rock festival.
Headlined by My Chemical Romance and Metallica, they make up the artists that have been announced for the new date. Originally scheduled to play two nights, Metallica will be doing the same thing in 2021. My Chemical Romance was originally planning on using 2020 for a reunion tour, but the pandemic has changed those plans. MCR will undoubtedly bring a diverse group of fans to the 2021 Aftershock Festival. The Aftershock website provides valuable information for festival attendees who purchased tickets for the 2020 dates.
The rest of the 2021 lineup will be announced this October.
