Wynne Do My Own Stunts

Portland Artist Wynne Collaborates with Dreamville Producer Christo for ‘Do My Own Stunts’ EP

Portland-based artist Wynne recently got together with one of Dreamville’s in-house producers, Christo, and made a six-track EP titled, Do My Own Stunts. Released through PDX’s Eyrst record label, this is her first release since 2019’s If I May.., besides a quick single late last year.

It’s all about that action from the jump as Wynne delivers blow after blow with each rhyme. With no features on the album, it’s evident that Wynne has been sharpening her skills. She shows us there’s no need for a stuntman here, she can impress us all on her own.

Right out the gate, Wynne is showing off her skills in acrobatic lyricism. On the opening track, “OLÉ OLÉ,” her calm yet confident delivery is offset by the muted chaos of Christo’s beats, making for a powerful sound that has an immediate impact on the listener’s ears. Between Wynne’s sharp tongue and Christo’s dynamic productions, this action-packed EP will be pummeling your eardrum like a boxer working a speed bag.

“Need hoodie in the booth, it’s freezin’

Tires workin’ in all the seasons

I’m mad at all of them for sleepin’

That’s what I call Tempur-Pedic

Let the beat rest in peace

give me my check then leave

I said that I’m sick of these fleas

How come they buggin’ my dogs

they better go get that leash then leave”

When a rapper and producer collaborate on an entire project, the end product has an unbeatable kind of cohesion. The transitions between songs are flawless, allowing you to lose yourself in the album. We see this on Wynne’s Do My Own Stunts.

The transition between “Bounceman Freestyle” and “Stunt” gave me stank face. Quite honestly, the more I listened to this EP, the more I thought my face was going to get stuck in this skewed expression that looks like I’m smelling something gross, slightly in pain, and somehow happy all at the same time. From start to finish, Do My Own Stunts, is nasty in the best way possible.
