Otys is as indie artist we’ve featured previously, with his past work like “Clockwork” and “Seasons” garnering major respect locally. Calling the Capitol Hill area home nowadays, the Nebraska native is back once again with his debut EP “Midwest Goodbye.”
Over the last six months, Otys has been laying low, working hard to bring his debut EP to life. Finally releasing it earlier this month after much anticipation from fans, “Midwest Goodbye” is a five-track project where Otys puts it all out there, expressing the emotional up’s and down’s of his story. He puts a pop/indie folk spin on his journey from Nebraska to Seattle over the last five years.
A Community Effort
“Midwest Goodbye” is lush with incredible talent. The EP features strings from Grammy nominated Cellist Phillip Peterson of Shoreline’s House of Breaking Glass, as well as Grammy nominated Violinist Victoria Parker. Production was done by Justin Akama, Capitol Hill’s Jake Crocker helped with vocal mixing and Pioneer Square’s Matthew Wolk took on mastering.
Community is a big emphasis point with this EP, and for Otys as a person. He’s incredibly grateful for all the support he gets to help make his dreams happen. Otys kept that community in mind with much of his advertising via grassroots posters scattered throughout Cap Hill/Greenlake.
“It was important to me I ensured this EP be a community piece, as I know my talented friends helped bring this to life.”
