“Honestly” Music Video Captures The Raw Energy From Chase Fade’s Seattle Sessions

In January of 2020, Studio Sage opened their doors for two days, allowing hundreds of hungry artists to create a historic moment in the Pacific Northwest. Chase Fade and Cameron Kayser invited rappers, producers, musicians, and engineers from all around the greater Puget Sound area to fill the room with incredible creative energy.

The invites sent out were designed to mimic the 1962 Seattle’s World Fair, which happened to be when the, now iconic, Space Needle was erected. Some credit the fair with revitalizing Seattle’s economic and cultural life at the time. By using the famous design, Chase Fade was sending the message that the Seattle Sessions were going to be two legendary days in the studio with the intent of causing a massive shift in the music scene.

Over a year has passed with nothing to show except photos and some snippets on social. Yet, the hype of the Seattle Sessions has hardly faded. Finally, we our getting our first taste of what those two incredible days were like, with the release of the official trailer for the Seattle Sessions Vol. 1.

Following the release of the trailer, the first song also dropped. Titled, “Honestly,” the lead single features Kateel, NËSTRÄ, Nyles Davis, Campana, and Sol. The music video accompanying it was shot in a single take at Sage Studios right after they finished recording the track. You can feel the passionate energy of the room throughout the entire video.

“They always tryin’ to say that Seattle ain’t got what it got and it bothers me. Honestly, if you ain’t ever been in the studio cookin’ up with one of us, don’t talk to me.”

Part of the hook on “Honestly”

All five artists take turns delivering their verses as a sea of other artists in the room hype them up. The production by Malygin has a daydream-like quality to it. This provides a lightweight contrast that balances out the high-octane “proving-them-wrong” attitude of the song.
