Roots Of Creation And Mighty Mystic Team Up To Drop New Music Video “Light It Up”

Distinguished reggae-rock group, Roots of Creation continue to take 2021 on an experience with their new hit single “Light It Up”. Throwing down a new music video this past week, the New Hampshire natives team up with their long time collaborator, Mighty Mystic for a song with a shining message.

“Light It Up” begins with hard rhythmic hits and commanding horns to get us up on our feet and ears wide open for a very important message: we can get through difficult times when we find time to live in the moment.

Through a pumping baseline, skankin’ sax solo, and a simple but strong message, RoC and Mighty Mystic compel you to remedy hard times by sulking in the good. It is the perfect pick-me-up to start the new year!

Roots of Creation “Light It Up”

“Light It Up” is included on the follow up album after Roots of Creation’s project, ‘Grateful Dub: A Reggae Infused Tribute to the Grateful Dead’, which was mixed and produced by the 5x Grammy-winner, Errol Brown.

RoC is known for their great interpretation of fusing reggae dub and rock. This song is heavy in the roots of reggae by way of music and message.

Roots Of Creation x Mighty Mystic’s Cannabis Connection

The “Light It Up” music video is the perfect follow up to their release of the official lyric video. The lyric video shows us many hands holding up with joints. Fortunately, there is no disappointment in the music video.

There are many sights of lead vocalist/guitarist Brett Wilson sparking up joints with Mighty Mystic. Not only are they surrounded by good vibes, they are surrounded by cannabis plants. In a 4:20 video, RoC and Mighty Mystic remind us “Damn, it feels good to be alive” and to “Blaze that fire ‘til the morning light.”

With reverb sounds of reggae dub, the “Light It Up” music video transcends us to feelings of happiness and hope. Then it brings the viewer to a scene of belly dancers on a bus tagged, “Harry Brown” in eccentric graffiti. This takes place on Harry Brown’s Farm in Maine. Harry’s Hill Farm is famous for hosting cannabis liberation festivals in Maine for the past 30 years. The Farm seemed to be the perfect place for Mighty Mystic and Roots of Creation to shout their proclamation to be present in the here-and-now.

Roots Of Creation’s Success

Like most of their work, Roots of Creation have a list of household names that worked on this song. “Light It Up” features Slightly Stoopid’s Andy “AG” Geib on trumpet, percussionist Alex Brander of Big D & The Kids Table, and Billy Kottage (former trombone player for Reel Big Fish).

The group has found much success through collaboration. In addition, their stunning live performances virtually remove the barrier between performer and audience. As a result, they have not only found two #1 Billboard Reggae chart debuts two #1 Relix/Jambands.com chart debuts, but they also have received many accolades from Relix, Glide Magazine, Reggaeville and the like!

Additionally, Roots of Creation’s love to perform on stage has not been hindered by the pandemic. They are regularly performing on Facebook live, IG TV, Twitch, YouTube. Moreover, they continually appear in live-streamed festivals like California Roots and many more. These road junkies made great adjustments to virtual 2020, marking themselves #33 on Pollstar’s Top 100 Livestreamers Chart for 2020.

“Light It Up” is the launch of a series of releases coming soon. The releases will come prior to the drop of Roots of Creation’s new album. There will be limited-edition merch with each release. Shop the “Light It Up” series right here.
