Tacoma rap artist LROC returns with a complete body of work on the double-disc Luxury Trap album.
Divided into a two-disc format that breaks the album logo/artwork from a single image from both concepts. Both ideas come together to create the same thesis, getting money the hustling way. LROC has long been making quality street music and has provided the Northwest with plenty of consistent content over the years. Luxury Trap finds him at the best of both worlds and all together as an artist touching on the subject of going after your goals from the dirt and celebrating with the finer things in life.
One of his last projects, King Amongst King’s tracklist consisted of a feature on every song, the kicker was each feature was one of the region’s heavyweights. This time around ROC only holds 2 features with 18 total records on the album.
Get Luxury Trap The Double Album
Luxury is a little more soulful and smooth. The drums, bass lines, and samples ooze vintage Luxury. Something say, a Rick Ross would love very dearly and many “traditional” hip-hop fans as well. The vibes on each song are more rooted in the upper echelon vibes of hustling and kicking back draped in fine threads. While the project is smoother, the drums are crunchy and the sounds are big. Records like “Luxury Trap,” “Got You,” “Dopeboy Ettique,” and “N9ne” all hold this vintage hip-hop feel from the percussion to the samples. Most of these are some of my favorite records on this side.
The Trap side of the album has beats hitting a little harder, something that lives more in the night time. Themes still rooted in hustling, women, and money, but the sonic backdrop lands more in the trap arena. Faster high hats, deep clean basses, and pianos/pads.
This project provides lyricism, anthems, heavy beats, smooth beats, and a plethora of choices to throw on. You could start your day in the big body foreign playing the first half of the project and by the time you jump in your old school for the Trap side in the evening, you could have a soundtrack for your entire day.
The combination of both sides of this album will provide something for fans of any genre/feel inside hip-hop. Definitely going to be something I keep it rotation.
