Smoking accessories allow for a slightly smoother experience than the old adage of smoking out of a can or creating a gravity bong. If you’re hand-grinding then you could definitely use some more innovative tools. It’s time to enter the year 2020. There are a ton of useful smoking accessories readily available at your nearest dispensary or smoke shop.
As 11 of the United States of America legalized cannabis recreationally, newcomers are expected. From Illinois to coast to coast, Americans will soon be exposed to one of the most exciting alternative organic medicines. For their convenience, we have prepared a list of essential smoking accessories below.
Grinder
Again, spare your hands. You do not need that resin on your fingers, it really takes alcohol to get it off of your or surfaces. In addition to being cleaner, the even grind of cannabis greatly improves the active surface area per hit, or even for a process such as steam extraction. Basically, the more even your surface, then the better your experience will be.
What kind of grinder should you get? Honestly, I’d give it a $40-$60 limit on the high-end, because for that you’re going to get a clean grinder with a good weight and excellent feel. You can get decent grinders for $20, but spending the extra little bit will mean your grinder will last for years, can handle a higher capacity, and often stays nicer. Past that, the investment doesn’t feel worth it, unless you’re suffering from carpal tunnel and need an automated grinder.
Storage Container
Proper storage can save your life! Everyone knows that, but more importantly, state laws differ. Some require a locked container for transporting cannabis in the car, so make sure to stay on top of your local laws and abide by them as best you can. This is a smoking accessory that you undoubtedly need at some point.
In addition to this, storage containers offer a range of benefits. Some come with a vacuum seal, while others are designed to keep sunlight out of contact with cannabis. Both do well to fight off denigration. Containers also limit exposure to mold, fungi, and other pathogens.
Many containers will do, as a simple glass jar with a seal is relatively effective. However, there are leagues of companies with cannabis-specific storage containers that will be happy for your business. Their quality of life features is not to be underestimated.
Multi-tool
Cannabis multi-tools are your Swiss army knife for those eating girl scout cookies instead of for boy scouts. These tools often are designed to cut cigars, clean pipes, hold roaches, and perform other functions. The Nuggy is a portable multi-multi-tool which does all of this in addition to having a bottle opener and a screwdriver.
For $30-45, you can pick up the Nuggy. This product is within the typical price bracket for tools of this sort, and will greatly improve your cannabis capabilities. However, be careful about transporting or flashing the Nuggy, as some states have laws against pocket knives that cover the Nuggy. Washington citizens might be out of luck as far as it goes with owning this product.
Dab Rig
With anything comes progress. We started off with hash, then we figured out how to grow exotic and potent strains, and now we know how to concentrate those potent strains. While that might sound extreme, there’s research to suggest those who regularly dab and those who regularly smoke get similarly inebriated.
To use concentrates, maybe the best way is to dab them. A dab rig is a glass piece with a nail instead of a bowl piece. Instead of the traditional method of just using a light, dab rigs require either a torch, or an e-nail. Torches are used to heat the nail of the piece until it slightly glows, and then concentrate is put on the nail.
Typically, the ideal temperature for dabbing is between 300 and 400 degrees Fahrenheit. The concentrate quickly turns into consumable vapor, leaving little residue behind. For those afraid of heating up a piece of metal with a gas torch to that temperature inside their own home, e-nails are self heating. High end e-nails can even be programmed to specific degree values, and are on standby until you want to take your next hit.
Like everything from sugar to jogging on concrete, there’s likely health risks from dabbing, but you gotta do what you love. Try it out and determine for yourself if it’s worth it.
5. Papers
This is definitely one of the oldest smoking accessories available. Probably when the cigarette was invented in Spain as people rolled up the remains of cigars so that everybody could afford to dance with the sweet dragon of nicotine. Maybe we are still a little bit like the cavemen though because as soon as cannabis was popularized, it was rolled up in the same papers used for cigarettes. In Europe, they commonly mix the two to form the spliff, while in America the preference is for purely cannabis joints.
Now bleached, unbleached, hemp, rice, flax, and more papers are on the market. We are spoiled with an excellent selection which is so rich it can only be a matter of taste which are the best. Consumers are able to roll whatever they’d like into the papers, so while it is one of the oldest modern methods of ingesting cannabis, it’s also maybe the method with the most freedom.
Cannabis Tools Don’t Make The Stoner
It’s not the toys, it’s how you use them. You don’t need to buy every product meant for cannabis consumers or for the culture, but think about your habits! Do you like concentrates? Do you smoke cigarettes? Have you never bought flower and have only eaten edibles?
Some stoners don’t need a grinder. Others don’t need a dab rig. It’s up to you and your lifestyle to discover which smoking accessories work for your daily routine. Don’t be afraid to get into weird products though, you never know what’ll come in handy.
