Detroit is staying up, no crisis is going to stop us from grinding. “My Dawg” stands out with bars like “Served Boy, Served Girl/ I ain’t Sexist.” Dawg, Sada Baby, and Eastside Reup tore apart this track. Funny one-liners hit throughout the banger and both rappers keep on top of their delivery.
Aesthetically the video for “My Dawg” is what you can expect from Detroit during a time we’re forced to stay inside. After certain extensions, we’re gonna have a hot and claustrophobic summer, but that’s not gonna stop the parties. Sada and Reup gotta be running the trap.
“My Dawg”‘s beat rips through the entire song, a catchy bass line carrying a lot of it. Drums hit punchy, and the pacing continues to be a consistent drill throughout the track. Like a lot of Detroit’s banger, this song is a blast. Positive energy fuels the braggadocio of the rappers, men who can back up their aesthetics.
Money litters the “My Dawg” video and drips over twerking asses. It’s the usual scene, but the girls are knockouts. I didn’t see more than ten people too, so I think we’re still within the limit for social distancing.
In the local scene, partying and laughing carry a lot of artists. While you might be going hard vibing to one of the songs out and about, you’re probably going to be laughing at that same track’s jokes in private. “My Dawg” is another gem in a long line of hilarious, threatening, and smooth music.
Keeping the booze and weed around, it’s obvious what atmosphere we’re going for with “My Dawg.” Get lit, people, it ain’t like there shit else to do. Happy May, hopefully you’re staying positive during this beautiful month.
