To feed the hungry masses during this crazy coronavirus quarantine, Seattle’s rising artist Vxb6 (vibe) aka Mikey Metgala has given us a new single, “Talking To Myself.” Vxb6 is obviously making the best of this extra time indoors by cooking up new relatable bars.
The country has generally agreed upon this time as being important to practice self-reflection and healthy habits. In response, Metgala has come out swinging with an ethereal instrumental that features introspective ideas and spacey, yet melodic delivery.
His goal is to take the quarantine vibes to an even more personal level. The song comes in on a dreamy sample that swells as it drops the trippy beat. Vxb6 proceeds to get into his head with the hook ringing “talking to myself, that’s when I keep it real.” He then goes on to drop bars about troubling aspects of his past.
He resolves to a present pain that you can tell he still deals with, expressing “I don’t want it if it ain’t real.” The song as a whole is a reflection of Metgala’s past, present, and future. The hook drives the song into a mesmerizing apex that you can fully space-out to in your room.
Although his catalog is still building, we’re too familiar with how many songs and music videos Vxb6 has tucked away in the vault. We expect to be seeing him keep drop ample content throughout the year.
Metgala is the kind of artist that values quality over quantity. When he drops it’s reflective of the importance and weight he puts into each one. For now, tap in with his new cut “Talking To Myself,” crank the volume and “quarantine and chill.”
