Rock music has always held a special spot in my heart. I spent most of my high school blaring Saosin, Underoath, and As I Lay Dying out of the speakers of my Ford Ranger. I received an email about Fervence’s video for their song Paxism off their recently released independent album, “Ghost” and knew right away I had to support.
Their sound had my head banging and powered me through my kettlebell workout. The first song I listened to had me wanting more. The beat and sound were perfect for powering through my daily grind.
“Ghost”, their debut album, features four band members, Austin Bentley on vocals, Trent Odneal on guitar, Josh Mathis on drums, and Jon Daniels on bass. Their sound could possibly be described as melodic and deliberate with a touch of violence. I think if you asked my kettlebells they would probably agree.
The band describes their debut album “Ghost” as, “a dialogue on the greater thoughts of what lies beyond the pale, the idea of life again, and the tragic way of contemplating everything in between. The album also delves into the duality of personal value, relationships, toxicity, and what it feels like to be human.“
I look forward to more releases from Fervence. Their sound is what rock music currently needs. Formed in 2017, the band came together to express issues from their personal lives. They use the name Fervence to describe how they came together from their previous bands to express feelings through music.
