From low-riding, baby blue Impalas with chrome 100 spoke rims to lime green Lamborghinis with suicide doors reaching into the sky, flashy cars are a staple in hip-hop and rap music videos. Throw in some dope fits and beautiful women draped over some candy paint and you have what is basically the holy trifecta of modern-day rap videos. Anthony Danza’s “Big Body” featuring Larry June carries on the tradition in a beautifully simple visual directed and shot by Corey Frey. The track was co-mixed by Milo Eubanks, who seems has his hands on every dope track coming out of the town.
“Big Body” comes from Danza’s newest project BBS Diaries Vol. 2. The follow-up of BBS Diaries Vol. 1 which had a lot of influence from 1980’s love songs. The beat brings the swag back from 1985 and it’s apparent from the drop. Krystal Davis’s “So Smooth” provides the sample for Danza and June to work over.
Grainy VHS footage of wild whips of all shapes and sizes make the ’80s music hit home. Danza proves he’s one of the drippiest MC’s in the town. Big hats, colors, and chains are on display in a big way throughout the video. June stays more low-key in a Supreme hoody and a matching gold watch with a red face. June’s bars paint colorful pictures in a smooth and direct way.
Danza’s style and musical finesse make me think he’s a sort of timeless MC. The kind of artist who would have been successful through any era of music.
