When I make my usual trip to the dispensary to grab my typical cannabis fare, I always like to ask budtenders what’s new and what they’re actually smoking. The MAC strain or Miracle Alien Cookies is one of those strains that I’ve wound up dabbing, smoking, or vaping at one point or another over the last year. ZoZ Cannabis out of Mount Vernon, WA has grown an impressive rendition of the cultivar that offers its own unique flair. This popular hybrid strain crosses Alien Cookies with a hybrid of Columbian and Starfighter, via Leafly.
Looking at the buds, you’ll see a thick, bushy layer of trichomes and resin coating the entire surface. Breaking it open, you typically see more purple notes with a strong citrus musk prevailing and then ending on an earthy-rich floral scent. The terpenes you’d normally find dominant in this strain include limonene, pinene, and caryophyllene. In other cultivars of this strain you can typically find more purple and a stronger limonene profile, but ZoZ’s had its own unique taste.
ZoZ’s MAC strain is thick, yet sticky and coated head-to-toe in trichomes. Taking a few whiffs I found it to be a bit more floral in its scent, with piney notes along with a bit of spice. Then, cracking it open I saw wisps of purple, even on the tips of the stem from the bud after breaking it down. This had me thinking that ZoZ’s MAC cultivar is a little stronger on its pinene and caryophyllene profile.
MAC (Miracle Alien Cookies) by ZoZ Cannabis
ZoZ comes from the medical days, so I know they grow weed with over a decade of experience. With that in mind, the stronger floral scent could be a monoterpene like myrcene showing up at the table from their laudable growing practices. Then, after twisting up a solid joint of the MAC, I found the high to be stimulating, yet euphoric. The caryophyllene gave me a nice kick into a cerebral high that got me in the right mood before I went out on Friday. It also relaxed any of the day’s pains to make me feel damn near invincible.
The other thing that always impresses me about ZoZ is their packaging. It’s sleek, eye-grabbing, and made with the planet truly in mind. They work with CannaCycle to promote jar recycling, and the card-stock that goes over their jars is completely recyclable. It also stops light-penetration from all of those intense lights at rec shops. The lid is even made from bamboo. I don’t know many other recreational brands in Washington this committed to creating sustainable packaging.
