Tope dropped this remix a while back and there has been a yellow post-it on my desk reminding me to write about it ever since. It’s rare that I ever listen to something and think, “I really don’t even want to blog about this because I know I cannot accurately describe how good it is.” But, that’s what happened here. Tope’s album “Trouble Man” dropped over the summer, and on it was the original “New Day” track. Anyone following Tope’s music knows that the last few months have been a busy, exciting time for him, full of growth. Now that his career as a rapper has taken him across the country and back, he’s revisited this “Trouble Man” hit and spiced it up for us a little bit. Featuring Scarub of Living Legends and Luck One, this is not a track to pass over. The original was great, but there’s something about an artist taking the time to go back to a song and re-make it, that’s just exciting. “New Day” is self-produced by Tope, (as is the entire “Trouble Man” EP). You can also look forward to more episodes of “Trouble Vision” coming soon — it seems “Trouble Man” just never ends and as an audience member, I’m glad to see the movement continue.
