Deadmall + Rothstein Equals Fire New EP With A Chill Vibe

Cambridge-based rapper Rothstein and Western Massachusetts indie duo Deadmall have come together in a beautiful way. Deadmall is comprised of Gabe Gill and Honeyfitz. With Rothstein in tow they went on a “trip” together to create their three-track collaborative EP titled Deadmall + Rothstein. To be clear, the three holed-up in Honeyfitz’s room and dropped acid together. Figuratively and literally going on a trip to create an achingly personal EP over the span of that one weekend.

Rothstein is a character for sure. Describing himself as “Jackson Browne’s at-risk nephew,” and his work as “what might happen if Raymond Carver wrote pop songs on trap beats.” This personality, along with his talent, has paid of as he has racked up 6 million streams on Spotify in the past 2 years. Most notably with his debut single “Get Your Shit Together” which charted on Spotify’s US Viral 50.

The project Deadmall + Rothstein sits between chill bedroom pop and R&B with hip hop influences presented as well. Their focus single “Take Me Back to August” features a lyric video which they shot in in Hadley, MA where they recorded the EP. Overall providing a chill and personal vibe that can connect with a wide audience. Emotional and well composed the short three-track EP leaves you wanting more, and quickly rushing to the replay button.
