Get ready for high energy and fun music with Joey Batts & Them and their “live, funky, alternative hip-hop for your ear holes.” This five piece ensemble out of Connecticut is made up of Tony Volpe on guitar, John Dotson on bass, Marty Wirt on keys, Mike “Beatwiz” Spellman on drums and percussion, and finally, Joey Batts with the vocals for the group.
There’s no way not to enjoy Joey Batts & Them. With the ability to turn any show or event into an absolute party, the band uses funk vibes and groovy tunes to go with Joey’s lyrical skills and outstanding front man work. Able to turn an crowd, even if you walk in with a bad mood and have no intentions on dancing. You’ll suddenly find yourself in the middle of it all, happy as can be, having a blast dancing the night away and probably continuing the party long after the show is over.

You can see on stage and hear in the music that Joey is a happy and forward giving man, but that follows him off stage as well being a school teacher in Hartford, Connecticut. He also started Hip-Hop for The Homeless, a 10-14 day long run of shows through Connecticut that features dozens of local rappers, DJs, and musicians. The goal is to bring together the best talent in the hip-hop scene throughout Connecticut while also giving back to as many cities as possible. Not even Batts could have guessed how successful it would have become, having brought in over $10,000 in four years and countless amounts of canned food other donations. Joey Batts is also the artist who went viral for fixing the Nipsey Hussle Mural that was vandalized in Connecticut.
