Hi Neighbor Cannabis Club in North Hollywood: Meet the Family Behind the Magnolia Boulevard Dispensary

Hi Neighbor Cannabis Club in North Hollywood: Meet the Family Behind the Magnolia Boulevard Dispensary

“Love Thy Neighbor” is written across the wall outside Hi Neighbor Cannabis Club dispensary in North Hollywood. Two hands reach toward each other in a mural by artist Jon Moody. On Magnolia Boulevard in NoHo, it’s a big hello from a dispensary with an equally friendly name.

Of course, a mural only gets somebody to look. Once they’re inside, the flower has to be worth buying. The menu has to make sense. The person behind the counter has to listen when a customer says what they like, or admits they have no idea where to start.

That’s the shop brother and sister Juan and Alexis Garcia are trying to build. The brother and sister behind Hi Neighbor are bringing their family’s idea of a neighborhood shop to NoHo, with a cannabis menu built for regulars and first-time customers alike.

Respect My Region recently connected with them for an episode of our California Cannabis Edition podcast, powered by Treez. Their family story helps explain the name, while the store itself shows what they’re doing with it in North Hollywood.

The Family Story Behind Hi Neighbor

Juan and Alexis are Puerto Rican siblings from the Bronx. In Hi Neighbor’s telling of their story, their grandmother’s botanica was the place that taught them what a neighborhood business could be. People came for products, then stayed to talk or ask for guidance. The Garcias grew up watching customers become familiar faces.

They took over the Magnolia Boulevard location formerly known as Project Cannabis in 2025 and opened it under the Hi Neighbor name in early 2026. Juan brought experience from nearly a decade in the Army’s 101st Airborne and later corporate leadership.

Alexis brought a career in filmmaking, directing, producing and writing. There’s a practical side to running a dispensary every day, and there’s a creative side to making it feel like it belongs on its block. Between them, the siblings have experience with both.

North Hollywood gives the idea a real test. A NoHo performer stopping in after work may want something different from a longtime local buying their usual ounce or someone visiting their first legal cannabis shop. Hi Neighbor’s name suggests all three should be able to walk in and feel comfortable asking for what they need.

What’s on the Menu at Hi Neighbor Cannabis Club?

The Hi Neighbor menu covers flower, pre-rolls, vapes, concentrates, edibles and tinctures. Shoppers can browse by category or ask the team what they’re enjoying lately. As with any dispensary, brands, strains and batches change; the online menu is the place to check if you have your eye on a particular product.

Hi Neighbor’s published picks from Juan include Kanha Love Gummies, Dr. Norm’s tablets and a Proof THCV and CBG tincture. Its publicly listed menu has also included Dulzé gummies in flavors such as Piña Colada and Mango Chamoy, along with Humo flower selections.

Dulzé and Humo bring Latino-owned brands into the assortment alongside the rest of the store’s California cannabis options. RMR has previously covered Dulzé’s Mexican-inspired gummies, while Hi Neighbor’s edible and flower listings show the kinds of products shoppers have been able to find there.

Check current stock before going for a specific flavor or strain.

Flower buyers will likely notice the advertised mix-and-match ounce.

One staff pick on Hi Neighbor’s about page also points to a Delighted ounce. It’s the sort of deal that makes a regular shopper pause and compare prices, but the budtender conversation still matters: which strains are included today, what does the flower smell like and when was it packaged? An ounce should be something you’re happy to keep reaching for.

There are options for the customer making a smaller stop, too. Hi Neighbor promotes individual pre-roll deals and its own infused pre-roll line. Ask which kind you’re getting. A standard flower pre-roll and one with added concentrate can be very different experiences, even when they sit close together on a menu.

Edibles call for the same care. A person who knows their preferred serving size can browse for a favorite brand or flavor. Somebody trying gummies for the first time should take a closer look at the amount of THC per serving and talk to the staff before choosing. A discount is useful; an explanation you can understand is better.

A Good Budtender Makes the Menu Better

Hi Neighbor says its staff can help shoppers in English, Spanish and Russian, with ASL support. Its description of the store’s approach puts questions before the sales pitch. That gives customers a straightforward way to judge the experience when they visit.

Tell the budtender what you actually want to spend. If you liked a particular strain, describe what you liked about it. If a past edible was too strong, mention that before you buy another one. See whether the recommendation responds to what you said.

Regulars have questions too. They may want to know which flower just arrived, whether a familiar brand has a new batch or if there’s a better choice at the same price. Remembering those preferences is how a shop starts living up to a name like Hi Neighbor.

The NoHo Arts District Is Part of the Shop

Moody’s mural is the most visible sign of Hi Neighbor’s connection to Magnolia Boulevard. The shop also promotes comedy nights, pop-ups with local makers and neighborhood collaborations. In an area full of performers and creative businesses, offering a place for people to meet an audience makes sense.

That connection takes ongoing work. A customer might come in for a gummy and learn about a local comedian performing that week. Someone attending an event might discover a shop they hadn’t noticed before. Neither interaction needs to be grand. They’re the small, repeatable ways a business can become familiar on its block.

Check its current menu and promotions before visiting, since products and deal terms can change.

You can go in knowing exactly what you want, or ask the team to put you on to something. Look at the flower, compare the edibles, find out which pre-rolls are infused and ask what the budtenders would buy with their own money.

Juan and Alexis have given North Hollywood a dispensary people can spot from down the block. What happens on the other side of the door, product, price and a good conversation, is what will bring them back.
