Respect My Region Expands Houston Music Coverage With New Artist and Industry Feature Series

Respect My Region is expanding its Houston music coverage with a new editorial initiative focused on the artists, businesses, venues, and independent teams helping shape the city’s next chapter.

The series will highlight rising artists alongside the labels, producers, DJs, promoters, clubs, studios, festivals, and creative professionals supporting Houston’s broader music ecosystem. Coverage will appear on RespectMyRegion.com and across RMR’s social media platforms, including Instagram.

Houston’s influence on American music is already firmly established. The city has played an important role in the evolution of hip-hop, R&B, blues, country, zydeco, chopped and screwed music, and Southern rap. Its current scene extends well beyond the artists and sounds most commonly associated with Houston nationally.

New records, independent projects, local showcases, recurring parties, festivals, and creative collaborations continue to emerge throughout the Greater Houston area. RMR’s goal is to document more of that activity while it is happening.

Who RMR Is Looking to Feature

For our Houston music coverage, RMR is looking to connect with rising Houston artists, labels, venues, promoters, clubs, festivals, and other members of the city’s music community. The initiative is open to rising solo artists, groups, bands, rappers, singers, musicians, DJs, and producers with a meaningful connection to Houston or its surrounding communities.

Respect My Region is also interested in hearing from:

  • Independent record labels and artist collectives
  • Music managers and creative agencies
  • Recording studios, engineers, and producers
  • Music venues, nightclubs, lounges, and listening rooms
  • Concert promoters and independent event organizers
  • Festivals, showcases, open mics, and recurring music events
  • Photographers, videographers, and other professionals documenting Houston music

The Houston music we are looking to feature is not limited to one genre. RMR is accepting stories involving hip-hop, rap, R&B, country, electronic music, rock, alternative, Latin music, Afrobeats, dancehall, jazz, blues, zydeco, and other sounds represented throughout Houston.

Follower count will not be the primary factor determining editorial consideration. The series is intended to identify people and organizations showing consistent activity, creative quality, community support, and a clear connection to the region.

What the Houston Music Series Will Cover

Artists can submit new singles, albums, EPs, music videos, collaborations, live sessions, tour announcements, and upcoming Houston performances.

Labels and collectives can share information about new signings, developing artists, compilation projects, release campaigns, showcases, and other work involving their rosters.

Venues, clubs, and promoters can submit concert announcements, seasonal calendars, recurring events, festivals, special performances, anniversary celebrations, and new concepts contributing to Houston nightlife and live entertainment.

The goal is to create coverage that goes beyond reposting a flyer or briefly mentioning a release. Selected stories may explore an artist’s background, Houston connection, creative direction, current project, recent accomplishments, and plans for the future.

Venue and event coverage may focus on the people behind the operation, the community being served, the type of talent being booked, and the role the organization plays within the local scene.

Coverage Across RMR’s Website and Social Platforms

Selected participants may be included in dedicated articles, regional roundups, interviews, event previews, venue spotlights, or other editorial features published on RespectMyRegion.com.

Supporting Instagram carousels will help introduce selected stories to RMR’s social audience. A carousel may include an artist’s background, current release, Houston connection, key accomplishments, upcoming performances, and a link directing readers to the complete article.

The format gives artists and organizations space to explain what they are building while giving readers a clearer picture of the people contributing to Houston music.

Respect My Region has spent more than a decade covering regional music, independent artists, established performers, festivals, venues, nightlife, and culture. The Houston series continues that regional approach by focusing on the communities and infrastructure surrounding the music—not only the biggest names.

Greater Houston Is Included

Submissions are open to people working throughout Houston, including Downtown, Midtown, EaDo, Third Ward, Fifth Ward, Montrose, the Heights, Northside, Southwest Houston, Alief, Acres Homes, Sunnyside, and other neighborhoods across the city.

Artists and organizations based in Pasadena, Pearland, Sugar Land, Missouri City, Katy, Cypress, Spring, The Woodlands, Conroe, Baytown, and other Greater Houston communities may also submit.
