Wax Motif is closing out the year with another heavy release, and this time he is tapping into the heartbeat of Brazil’s funk movement. His new collaboration with MC Lan titled BOTA arrives on November 21 through Divided Souls Records and it lands with the confidence of a record built for real dance floors.
BOTA brings together two powerful creative lanes. Wax Motif continues to define his own sound built around bass driven club energy, while MC Lan arrives as one of Brazil’s most recognizable voices. The result is a high intensity track that pulls from Brazilian street culture and the grit of the Los Angeles club scene. It feels global without forcing it and carries the personality of both artists.
A Cross Continental Collaboration
MC Lan has spent years shaping Brazil’s international funk influence. His catalog includes work with Skrillex, Major Lazer, TroyBoi, and Will I Am. His voice and delivery cut through any production he touches, and on BOTA that same energy becomes the spark that drives the record. In Brazilian slang, BOTA translates loosely to turn it up or hit it which sets the tone for what this track aims to do from the first beat.
Wax Motif has been building momentum throughout 2025 with a streak of club records including Run It Up with Juos and 24hrs and Gimme That Money. BOTA continues that run and adds another layer to the Divided Souls catalog by reaching directly into Brazil’s core sound.
In speaking on the collaboration, Wax Motif shared the story behind how BOTA came together.
He explained that he had already been a fan of MC Lan after hearing him on Skrillex and Major Lazer releases. Before a recent trip to Brazil, the two exchanged messages. When Wax arrived in the country, he reached out to see if a session could happen, assuming it was a long shot. MC Lan immediately responded and pulled up in a black sprinter to take him to the studio.
During the drive, MC Lan revealed that Diplo and Ty Dolla Sign had spoken highly of Wax and encouraged him to work together. The two artists locked in that same night and cut several tracks including BOTA. After returning to the United States, Wax Motif continued shaping different versions of the record until they landed on the final mix.
The finished track carries the excitement of that session. It combines the raw rhythm and vocal presence that defines Brazilian funk with the club ready weight Wax Motif is known for.
BOTA Is A Vibe
BOTA works because it is not an attempt to copy a trend. Wax Motif approaches global sounds with care and knows how to merge styles in a way that respects their roots. MC Lan delivers the kind of presence that made him a star in Brazil in the first place. Together they created a record that feels loud, confident, and built for rooms where the crowd actually moves.
For MC Lan, the song adds to a legacy that already stretches far beyond Brazil’s borders. For Wax Motif, it adds another standout moment to a year filled with big releases and steady growth across festivals, clubs, and streaming platforms. The collaboration highlights both artists at their best and shows what can happen when two different worlds connect with intention.
