That Sam Smith show at the Key Arena in Seattle was……legend….wait for it…f***ing canceled! What the hell Sammy? My girlfriend bought us tickets back in Novemeber and we both took a day and half off work, booked a hotel, and headed over to Seattle early on Monday just to receive a phone call from Ticket Master that the show was canceled due to Sam Smith feeling slightly under the weather. This would have been a minor bummer if we hadn’t got a room that was non-refundable and weren’t already passing Issaquah (coming from Ellensburg) when we received the phone call.
Well, my new study has shown that it really does ‘suck-to-suck’ and my misfortune can be a lesson for all of you, don’t EVER go to a concert! I’m kidding, always go see your favorite artists live, there is nothing like it, but canceled concerts are always a possibility and a bummer. When Joey and I hit up Summer Jam at the Gorge this year I was disappointed that Rick Ross canceled (maymaymaymaybaaach music), and I know concert goers were truly saddened when Sasquatch canceled it’s second weekend of shows this summer!
I noticed on Facebook plenty of fans had drove many miles and some even flew in for the show! At our hotel we had at least 8 people in the lobby that drove to Seattle specifically for the show and were pretty bummed. I totally understand that traveling the world and performing every night takes a toll on the body especially that sweet, sweet voice you got, but it is a bummer for the promoter and fans alike when an artist has to miss a show at the last minute.
Sam Smith did promise fans via Twitter he would ‘make up the show as soon as his voice was back.’
Well Sammy Sam, to make this up to me I need to be reimbursed:
1. Day and a half off work (for GF and I): $300
2. Hotel – $77
3. Valet Parking – $28
4. Gas – $25
On top of the tickets and $430 I also need you to do the Homework my girlfriend had to skip, and mix a couple songs down for some clients of mine…and that would just make it ‘ok’ if you really want to make it up, let me get a few back stage passes to hook the girl up with an early Valentines gift
