When you think about a proper getaway in Costa Rica, you might picture thick jungle vibes, the sounds of toucans and monkeys echoing in the background, and sunsets that drip orange and magenta over rolling hills. But few places hit quite like La Quebrada Eco-Lodge, a boutique hotel tucked into the heart of Santa Cruz, Guanacaste — one of the country’s most culturally rich, naturally blessed regions.
From the moment we pulled into the driveway, shaded by massive trees and lined with tropical plants, we could tell this was going to be different from your typical beachside Airbnb or generic tourist resort.
La Quebrada blends eco-conscious living with intentional design, offering a peaceful reset while still putting you close to all the action — food, beaches, and local culture.
Eco-Lodge In A Lush Oasis With Jungle Vibes and a Legit Pool Setup
The hotel grounds are absolutely stunning. You feel like you’re deep in nature but with all the comforts you want from a boutique hotel. The landscaping is dialed in — vibrant flowers, tall trees, and little walking paths that lead you through the jungle vibes straight to the rooms and pool area.
Speaking of the pool — it’s not some tiny plunge pool or half-baked amenity. It’s a large pool, super clean, surrounded by nature, and absolutely perfect for cooling off after a hot day exploring.

The real surprise? The waterfall built into the pool design actually adds to the whole atmosphere, making the space feel peaceful and a little luxurious. You could easily post up there for hours, just floating and catching sun while the sound of rushing water keeps your mind clear.
Spacious Rooms With Everything You Need (and More)
The rooms at La Quebrada were practical, spacious, and perfect for a two-day stay. We’re talking plenty of room to spread out, solid Wi-Fi, and best of all, a fully functional kitchenette setup.

Each room includes a sink, hot plate, silverware, plates, bowls, and cups — way more than what you get in a standard hotel room. That little touch makes a big difference. We prefer these roomes because we love cooking our own breakfast and coffee. It gives you freedom.
Add in the tropical touch and eco-friendly design, a comfy bed, and a hot shower, and it’s a full-on home base for travelers who want more than just a bed and a mini fridge.
Santa Cruz Food Hits Different
Let’s talk local eats — because Santa Cruz lowkey has some of the most authentic Costa Rican food you’ll find in Guanacaste. You’re not getting tourist-trap menus here — this is real-deal Tico cuisine, cooked by families who’ve been perfecting recipes for generations.
We hit a few sodas and were blessed with gallo pinto, carne en salsa, grilled chicken, and some of the best patacones we’ve had in Costa Rica.
The fruit is next level, too — fresh-cut mango, watermelon, and pineapple from roadside stands all tasted like they were picked that morning. If you get the chance, grab food at a local favorite and pair it with a cold Imperial or fresh juice — that’s the move.
Close to Epic Beaches Without the Noise
Santa Cruz sits in a prime location for exploring some of Guanacaste’s best beaches. Playa Avellanas is a short drive away and brings the surf vibes, while Playa Negra and Junquillal give you options for peaceful afternoons or sunrise strolls. These aren’t overdeveloped zones — they’re mostly chill, uncrowded, and surrounded by nature.
If you’re craving a little more nightlife or shopping, Tamarindo is close enough for a half-day trip but far enough that you’re not dealing with noise, traffic, or tourist chaos when you’re ready to relax.
La Quebrada gives you the perfect balance — close to everything, but far enough to really breathe.

If you’re looking for a boutique hotel that offers real value, peace, and access to the best of Guanacaste, La Quebrada Eco-Lodge is a must.
Planning a weekend escape, a longer creative retreat, or a basecamp for beach-hopping and food missions, this place could definitely help bring it all together.
