Undefeated UFC flyweight contender Muhammad Mokaev was released from the company following his unanimous decision victory over Manel Kape at UFC 304.

Undefeated Former UFC Contender Signs with BRAVE

Muhammad Mokaev is undoubtedly one of the best flyweights in the world of MMA as the undefeated young fighter steadily climbed up the rankings of the UFC. The highly talented and undefeated 23-year-old mixed martial arts phenom Muhammad Mokaev (13-0-0, 1NC) has recently signed with BRAVE Combat Federation, given his recent departure from the UFC.

BRAVE Combat Federation is a premier MMA organization in Bahrain and the Middle East. Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa established the promotion in September 2016.

Muhammad Mokaev Signs with BRAVE Combat Federation

BRAVE’s sitting President, Mohammad Shahid, publicly expressed his desire to sign and do right by Mokaev.

Mokaev’s professional MMA career with BRAVE, which began in August 2020, is a testament to his skill and dedication. His impressive record of 4-0-0, 1NC during his time with the promotion is a source of pride for MMA enthusiasts.

This is a big deal, as the potentially best flyweight fighter on the planet will not be in the UFC. This strays away from Dana White’s typical outlook on fighters and their right to a UFC roster spot, as he always emphasizes how the company only signs the best fighters on the planet.

Given Mokaev’s astounding 7-0 run in the UFC in such a short time, the possibility of him rekindling ties with the UFC after another impressive stint in BRAVE is a beacon of hope for MMA fans.

Following a recent night of ‘Dana White’s Contender Series,’ reporters asked Dana White whether or not Mokaev could ever earn the opportunity to sign back with the UFC, which White answered promptly. Click here to watch White’s response—footage via ‘FIGHTZONEUPDATE’ on YouTube.

Mokaev’s Last UFC Fight

His last fight took place at UFC 304 in Manchester, England, where he was matched up with a heated rival in Manel Kape. He would go on to win via decision, but the fight failed to meet expectations.

Leading up to this highly anticipated flyweight fight, Mokaev and Kape had an altercation at the UFC training center, which allegedly involved Kape producing a cut on Mokaev’s eye.

Weeks to months later, Mokaev surprised Kape at the fighter hotel during UFC 304’s fight week. He asked for a picture and spoke of brokering peace. After taking the picture together, Mokaev allegedly punched Kape, which led to an all-out brawl between both camps and fighters.

Unfortunately for Mokaev, his and Kape’s pre-fight antics during the fight week and months prior were more entertaining than the two ranked flyweights’ fight, as they hesitated to engage fully.

The crowd in attendance let their displeasure with the spectacle be known as they filled the arena with boos.

After the event, UFC President Dana White took to the microphone to express his anger and disappointment in the fight and Mokaev specifically.

This three-round bout in the prelims of UFC 304 was Mokaev’s last remaining fight on his contract with the UFC, and Dana White emphasized his feelings toward the idea of re-signing Mokaev.

Dana White’s Frustration with Mokaev

After UFC 304, UFC President Dana White spoke to the media and discussed potentially re-signing Mokaev and his future with the company.

White brutally analyzed the situation and did not hold back his thoughts, stating, “I think the PFL is gonna get a great undefeated guy.”

This is White’s slick way of saying that he has no interest in looking to re-sign Mokaev and that he does not view this free-agent loss as a big deal.
