Hot Music Friday Lists The Latest From Dua Lipa, Jung Kook, And Others!

Happy December and Happy Friday, RMR Fam! Whatever you’re celebrating this time of year, we hope it’s filled with warmth and good times. To help with those good times, Hot Music Friday is here to give you the latest in what’s buzzing in the music industry. Sit back and relax while you listen to these rad selections as you kick off your weekend.

“Houdini” – Dua Lipa

Dua Lipa is helping us kick off Hot Music Friday with her latest single release, “Houdini!” This is for the single ones out there who know their self-worth and refuse to stick around for anyone that no longer serves them. Accompanied by her usual disco-esque bounce are bassy synths and cheeky lyrics that to show she’s got more up her sleeve.

“Is It Over Now?” (Taylor’s Version) – Taylor Swift

Coming from The Vault Collection in 1989 (Taylor‘s Version) [Deluxe], “Is It Over Now?” gives instrumentals that are reminiscent of the 80s with lyricism that’s relatable for any time period. The words themselves can be heavy, but the sound is upbeat and catchy. It’s always refreshing to hear a break up song that isn’t the typical ballad most expect, and going against expectations is the whole vibe of 1989.

“Water” – Tyla

This hit from Tyla is only getting more and more popular, and this is only the beginning of what’s to come with her self-titled album releasing in March 2024. “Water” has that pleasant, jazzy mix of house and Afro tech that is amapiano, and the song is just plain sexy. Tyla gives such a cool and sensual performance, so give it a listen on your next date night.

“First Person Shooter” – Drake (feat. J. Cole)

As a SUPER fan of The Office (Yes, I’m one of THOSE people), this video is instantly 10/10 just for the guest star alone which is Brian Baumgartner aka chili extraordinaire, Kevin Malone! That aside, what’s dope about this one is it’s one song with two sounds with the first half being totally hyped up and the second half giving more of a slower and bassy sound. This is one of Drake’s hottest tracks out right now in his latest album For All The Dogs.

“I Remember Everything” – Zach Bryan (feat. Kacey Musgraves)

Still remaining hot on the charts is “I Remember Everything” from Zach Bryan’s self-titled album, and let’s be real, this ballad tells a painful truth for relationships that have ups and downs. This slow song has the softest instrumentals that take you somewhere else and help ease the sting that may come from listening to the verses if you happen to relate to them. It’s not surprising that this is an instant and classic country hit.

“3D” – Jung Kook & Jack Harlow

Jung Kook is already killing it in the solo game with this release by Jack Harlow climbing in popularity like crazy! The simple yet extremely bouncy percussion and beats with Jung Kook’s velvety voice is giving 2000s NSYNC-era, and I am more than here for that. Jack Harlow then comes in to give the tune a modern twist with bars that flow effortlessly into this incredibly clever song.

“Too Much” – The Kid LAROI, Jung Kook, Central Cee

Jung Kook continues to make a name for himself outside of BTS with being featured in The Kid LAROI’s latest with Central Cee, and it’s a great fusion of pop and hip-hop. With it’s smooth melodies and melting pot of collaborations from these international sensations, this song has become a banger all around the globe. It’s a great way for The Kid LAROI to start of strong with his debut studio album, The First Time.

“Strangers” – Kenya Grace

We’re wrapping up this week’s Hot Music Friday with my personal favorite on the list! I remember seeing Kenya Grace throwing down beats on her Instagram page, and it’s so cool watching a rising artist in real time become a SMASH sensation! This track has been topping the charts FAST and for good reason with Kenya Grace’s feathery voice mixed in with her pulsating electronic rhythm.
