Southern California will welcome back the Brian Jonestown Massacre this weekend as the traveling carnival of sound has been summoned to take the stage along with another psych-rock heavyweight in the City of Angels.
On Friday (October 13), Anton Newcombe & Co. will perform at the Bellwether in Los Angeles following a set by Melody’s Echo Chamber. The stacked roster was put together as part of the week-long Daze In The City takeover that will also see artists playing in venues across Long Beach, Riverside and Santa Ana.
Tickets for BJM’s upcoming show can be purchased here.
Right now, the Brian Jonestown Massacre are on a 39-date North American tour in support of their most recent album, The Future Is Your Past. With three-plus decades to his credit, Newcombe has consistently churned out music and somehow managed to not only retain the quality of his product but also top it with each release. The project’s twenty-first LP, which was released earlier this year, is yet another testament to his prowess as a singer, instrumentalist, composer and visionary.
The Brian Jonestown Massacre Live in France
Even as they ease into their veteran years, the outfit has bounced around from past to present to future, and through it all, remained current in their sound. Good luck trying to figure out what exactly you want to categorize them as — it’s damn-near impossible considering how much ground they’ve covered since starting out in the 90s! We do, however, insist that you give it a shot, be it through their records or as part of their audience.
