Bottomless mimosas are a hallowed Sunday tradition honored by hungover brunch patrons all over this great nation. A cheap combination of champagne and orange juice classed up in a champagne flute for one of the best “hair of the dog” cocktails known to mankind. The Mimosa strain from Lilac City Gardens is an ode to the boozy brunch beverage that has just the right amount of citrus bite.
The Mimosa strain is defined by citrus aromas and bold purple coloring. A cross between Clemintine and Purple Punch, it’s easy to see how each parent strain contributed to its offspring. The bold purple and lavender colors are courtesy of Purple Punch while the orange aromas obviously hail from the aptly named Clemintine strain.
The plant produces large robust flowers with a decent amount of trichome production, but the purple color and sports car orange hairs are what really make this bud stand out aesthetically.
The orange and citrus terpenes don’t carry over into the smoke quite like the smell, but they’re faintly there. Where this strain starts to shine is when the high kicks in. A band of energetic paranoia wrapped around my brain, urging me to write deep into the night. Paranoia is often associated with a negative side effect, but I like to harness that nervous energy and put it to work for me.
